The Human Resources Department’s mission is to partner with Johnson County departments, agencies, and offices to maximize the potential of employees-the county’s greatest asset. The Department is responsible for managing the county’s compensation and classification system, employee training, recruitment and retention, onboarding new employees, employee relations support for departments, agencies, and offices, HRMS guidance, administering of performance management systems, and oversight of employment related compensation matters.
The county seeks an exceptional Director who has a strong record of continuous improvement, a deep knowledge of human resources, and will know how to take the department to the next level. The ideal candidates will have experience in a large, high performing organization, is self-directed, creative, proactive, and mindful of supporting the entire organization. The ideal candidate will promote policies that create a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The successful candidate will be comfortable setting expectations, working collaboratively, and communicating regularly throughout the organization.
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college and university with major course work in human resources, industrial relations, public administration, or a closely related field. The candidate also must have ten years of increasingly responsible human resources experience, including three years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. Experience in the public sector is preferred. HRCI, SHRM certification or similar preferred.
