PORT HUMAN RESOURCE ANALYST

The Port is currently recruiting for the position of Port Human Resource Analyst (Employment & Classification). Under general supervision, the Port Human Resources Analyst performs a variety of professional duties in the administration of recruitment and examination and other special projects related to general personnel systems. The eligibility list generated from this announcement will be used to fill the current specialized vacancy in the employment & classification unit within the Human Resources Department.

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

·        Conducts job analyses to classify positions and determine critical elements for examination purposes.

·        Interviews employees, supervisors, managers, directors, and other subject matter experts to solicit information pertaining to job functions and/or development of test items; conducts multiple exam processes simultaneously.

·        Assigns and directs the work of clerical and technical staff for examination-related assignments; may train support staff.

·        Develops, coordinates, and administers the examination process, including conducting job analyses, designing, and developing job related selection procedures, evaluating employment applications, developing examination schedules and administering and evaluating oral, written, physical ability and performance tests, and other assessment instruments.

·        Conducts statistical analyses of examination results, including item analysis, analysis of adverse impact and item correlations to ensure that examinations conform to professional and legal standards, sets pass points, and prepares examination packets for establishment of Civil Service eligible lists.

·        Interprets and explains personnel rules, regulations, and procedures.

·        Assists in the development of policies and procedures for personnel programs.

·        Participates in special projects as assigned.

Typical requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in human resources management, business administration, public administration, industrial relations, or a related field, along with two years of progressively responsible experience at the level of an Assistant Port Human Resource Analyst. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Additionally, must possess a valid California Class “C” driver’s license at the time and for the duration of appointment. A willingness to work overtime and on weekends occasionally is needed.
